Spring Break

This is our last full week before Spring Break. Next week (April10th – 14^th) we will have off for Spring Break!  Please enjoy yourself!

Attendance & Tardies

I can’t believe that we are in the final term of this school year! We are working hard to finish all 1st grade curriculum. It is so important that the students attend school as much as possible. This is a busy time of year and we are moving forward at a brisk pace.  When a student is absent, he/she tends to miss quite a bit of instruction.  Please help your child keep up good attendance as much as possible!

Tardiness is becoming an issue for many of our students, as well. Please make it a habit of arriving on time whenever possible. Thank you for your co-operation in this matter.

Peer Tutoring Is Ending

Peer Tutoring will end this Thursday. It has been a joy watching the first and fourth grade students work together. I think they have each found a life-long friend.

I hope you have also enjoyed listening to your child read each night.  It is also a joy to see how much they have improved since the beginning of the year.  I hope that they can find the joy that reading can bring into their lives.

March Madness

We are in the final weeks of our March Madness reading incentive. Allow your child to read often and be sure to record the minutes read!

Those who have returned reading notes have earned the right to go with our class and school to watch Moana. 

I still have a few students who have NOT yet returned any notes. Unless they start bringing their reading notes back, they will not be allowed to attend the movie with us.

Report Card Folders

Please remember to return the report cards folders this week. I need them one more time, and then they are yours to keep!

Sight Words

Please work with your child on the sight words that they are still missing.  This will help them begin second grade strong with reading skills.
